The Plan

My goal is to travel as far as possible, for as long as possible. In October 2010 I successfully raised $5000 on Kickstarter to fund my journey through Southeast Asia. To help me go further, you can sponsor me now.

My Travel Philosophy

I travel with a backpack and tent. I believe in going cheaply, and close to the land: walking as much as possible, using trains and busses where necessary, and avoiding planes if possible.

As cliché as it sounds, I believe that travel is a metaphor for, and microcosm of, life itself, and that therein lies its value. It's about the exotic, but also about the commonplace; about the new, but also about the old; about seeing and discovering, but also about listening and waiting; about coming into contact with the other and being changed, but also about finding constancy. Always it is about coming to know the world better, and myself.

Phase 1: Southeast Asia, China, Japan

phase 1 map

In October 2010 I successfully raised $5000 on Kickstarter to fund phase 1 of my trip. Starting in Korea, where I currently reside, I will fly to Vietnam, and explore Southeast Asia via land travel (bus, train, walking) over a period of 4-5 months: Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar.

The plan is to then venture into China, and make my way towards the coast, where I will depart for Japan sometime in the Spring, in time for the planting season, where I will most likely spend some time volunteering on organic farms.

Phase 2: Russia, Europe, and Beyond

If I can continue to raise support, I would love to keep traveling and making games: take the Siberian Express through Russia, camp my way across Europe, ferry over the Mediterranean to North Africa… as far as I'm concerned, there's no end in sight. If you're feeling generous, join my list of sponsors now to help me go further!
